Economist, ITAM (BSc) and London School of Economics (PhD Candidate with the thesis: “Infrastructure Capital and Economic Growth: The Long Term Mexican Experience, 1925-1990”). General Director of The Competitive Intelligence Unit, S.C. (www.the-ciu.net), specialized consulting group on market trends, business opportunity analysis, strategy and regulatory aspects of telecommunications. Besides the telecommunications industry, he has occupied several positions in the Public Administration, in the Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público, Secretaría de Programación y Presupuesto, Comisión Federal de Electricidad and Presidencia de la República. Acknowledged opinion leader on telecommunications and information technologies market and regulatory issues, regularly quoted in media. Titular of the radio capsule on ICT issues in the leading news radio programme Cupula Empresarial (of Oscar Mario Beteta), Radio Formula, 103.3 FM. Regular contributor in specialised magazines, like Red, etcetera, Information Weekend, as well as in the national newspaper El Economista, in addition occasionally contributing to diverse publications. Among his academic activities, stands out his activity as Coordinator of the programme on Telecommunications Strategic Analysis Diploma, at the ITAM, 2006 and 2007, where he is a part-time professor at the Economics Department of the Instituto Tecnoógico Autónomo de México (ITAM) since 1997, as well as in the MSc and Diploma on Public Politics since 2002. He is also professor of Cultural Economics at Universidad de Guadalajara and used to be the Academic Development Director at the Telecommunications Research Consortium at CIDE from 2002 to 2005. He is the representative of the London School of Economics and Political Science in Mexico. |
